Kota Permai won the Malaysia’s Best Golf Course award during the 2016 World Golf Awards gala at the Conrad Algarve in Portugal on November 12.
This is the second time that Kota Permai has topped the Malaysian category in the annual awards, which was created in 2014 to celebrate and reward excellence in the golf course and golf tourism industry. The worldwide voting process ran from June to October 2016, with votes cast by golf industry and travel professionals as well as the public.
World Golf Awards managing director Chris Frost said “It is a huge pleasure for World Golf Awards to recognise Kota Permai Golf and Country Club as Malaysia’s Best Golf Course 2016 here at the Conrad Algarve. With golf hospitality enjoying a huge surge in popularity in Asia, it is organisations such as this that are providing the benchmark to which others aspire.
“We hope the success of Kota Permai Golf and Country Club this evening will play its role in driving up standards in the market across the region and I look forward to welcoming them back next year.”
Gamuda Land Clubs Group General Manager Tang Meng Loon noted: “At Kota Permai, we are committed to delivering an unique and world class experience to our members and patrons so we are incredibly honoured to have the hard work and passion officially recognized at the prestigious World Golf Awards. We do not take success for granted and will constantly strive to be better in all facets, on and off course”.
Kota Permai’s achievement was lauded by industry leaders, including Asian Golf Industry Federation’s CEO Eric Lynge and Malaysia Golf Tourism Association president Ng Eu Shen.
“It is always pleasing to see Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Course Facility members recognised for their excellence, especially on a global scale. We congratulate Mr Tang and his hard-working team at Kota Permai on this latest, well-deserved accolade. It is another indication that our best facilities in Asia are truly of world-class standard,” said Lynge.
“It is not coincidental when all of the nominees at the third edition of the World Golf Awards in Portugal are members of the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association (MGTA). Once again, Kota Permai has proved themselves as the world’s favourite. Congratulations to Mr Tang and the management to have been voted as Malaysia’s Best Golf Course for the second time,” noted Ng.
