Belgium’s Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry will go into the final round of the ISPS HANDA Melbourne World Cup of Golf with a healthy five-shot lead.

The Belgian duo carded a superb 63 in today’s third round fourballs at The Metropolitan Golf Club to surge ahead of the pack on 19-under-par.  Three teams lie second on 14-under-par – Italy (Andrea Pavan and Renato Paratore), Korea (Byeong Hun An and Si Woo Kim) and Mexico (Abraham Ancer and Roberto Diaz).

Meanwhile, Malaysian hopes of a historic maiden win in the event evaporated when Gavin Green and Ben Leong could only manage an even-par 72 to drop into in 15th place on eight-under-par, 11 shots off the lead.

Tomorrow’s final round reverts to the tougher foursomes (alternate shot) format.
