The Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour unveiled its 2019 schedule today, offering total prizemoney of RM3,895,000 over 31 events.*
Nine tournaments will be co-sanctioned with the Asian Development Tour and thus offer Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, carrying on a partnership which has existed sine the PGM Tour’s inaugural season in 2011.
PGM chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji noted that they will continue to embrace a multi-faceted concept, comprising the nine ADT events, six closed events for PGM cardholders, 10 ladies events (run concurrently with selected men’s events), the PGM Seniors Championship, the annual Ryder Cup-style match against the Indonesia Golf Tour (IGT) and four qualifying schools.
While the total prizemoney is less than the RM5 million-plus offered in 2018, Tun Ahmad added that the PGM Tour is still in healthy shape and continues to be well-supported by the Pakatan Harapan government.
The 2019 tour tees off with the RM200,000 PGM Perlis Closed Championship at Putra Golf Club on January 16-19.
