San Diego, January 27: Justin Rose has pulled ahead at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) following his 10th PGA Tour victory at the Farmers Insurance Open.
The English star closed with a three-under-par 69 to finish on 21-under-par at Torrey Pines, two shots clear of Australia’s Adam Scott. Rose now tops the OWGR with 10.2918 points, comfortably ahead of American Brooks Koepka on 9.0332.
The win also made Rose the most prolific English winner on the PGA Tour since 1945 and pushed him past the US$50 million mark in career earnings. This was Rose’s second start of 2019 and marked his first win since signing an endorsement deal with Honma.
“Everything worked out better than I would have hoped,” said the 38-year-old, who finished T38 in last week’s Desert Classic.
Making his first start of the year, Tiger Woods finished T20 on 10-under-par.
