Kota Permai Golf & Country Club was inducted into the prestigious Asia Pacific Order of Zenith at last week’s 20th Asian Golf Awards at DLF Golf & Country Club in Haryana, India.

The Order of Zenith is reserved for a select few golf clubs in the region to recognise excellence across all spheres, from operations and golf course maintenance to clubhouse facilities and service standards, permanently enshrining those clubs in a virtual hall of fame. Apart from Kota Permai, only two other clubs made it onto the elite list this year.  Kota Permai will thus no longer compete in the ‘Best In Malaysia’ category in the annual awards, organised by the Asia Pacific Golf Group.

For the first time in the club’s 21-year history, Kota Permai received second runner-up honours in the Best Managed Golf Club in Asia Pacific category. Meanwhile, Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club took up the mantle left by Kota Permai in the Best Course In Malaysia category by claiming first runner-up spot.

Kota Permai and Horizon Hills  also scored big in the individual categories with five awards in various top-3 positions:
▪ Vivien Gnananantham – Winner, Best MarComm Manager Of The Year
▪ Lee Chee Keen – Second Runner-Up, Best Golf Course Superintendent Of The Year
▪ Emia Nawarita – Second Runner-Up, Best Caddie Of The Year
▪ Ong Seng Kiat – First Runner-Up, Best Golf Manager Of The Year
▪ Evelyn Wong – First Runner-Up, Best HR Manager Of The Year

“Our hard work has paid off beautifully with these awards. It’s such an indescribable feeling when your golf properties and people level up from national level to the Asia Pacific region. These recognitions bolster the fact that we are not only the best in Malaysia, but that we’ve joined the big leagues of regional golf and are setting benchmarks for others to follow suit,” said Tang Meng Loon, director of club operations and townships for the Gamuda Group, which owns and operates both clubs.

“Prestigious awards such as these serve as one of our motivational factors and it’s our people that serve as important cogs in the smooth-running of the Kota Permai and Horizon Hills machines. The support of our family, friends, members, partners and industry as a whole is equally important because they help push us individually and collectively to achieve our best potential,” he added.

Based on online voting over a three-month period, the Asian Golf Awards was staged at the end of the 13th Asia Pacific Golf Summit organised by the Singapore-based Asia Pacific Golf Group.
