TaylorMade SIM Irons: Bridging The Gap

TaylorMade’s new SIM Max and SIM Max OS irons feature proven Speed Bridge Technology and the revolutionary Echo Damping System to deliver explosive distance, enhanced sound and forged-like feel in the distance iron category.

Designed for the golfer seeking all-around performance in a distance iron, SIM Max boasts an ultra-thin 1.5mm face with increased flexibility across the entire face, while a lightweight fluted hosel with a 360 undercut creates a super low CG.

The SIM Max OS is equipped with similar technology but bundled into an oversized package with a taller face to increase stability and a wider sole for forgiving turf interaction. The chamfered sole design allows engineers to drive CG low and deep, promoting easier launch and significant ball speed. Stronger lofts help produce a penetrating ball flight, making this the longest iron in the current TaylorMade line-up.

Speed Bridge and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket

Playing a pivotal role in the performance of the M5 and M6 irons, Speed Bridge Technology is elevated in the SIM irons to deliver more refined performance.

Speed Bridge is a mass efficient beam that spans across the cavity back, connecting the back bar to the topline for improved stability in the upper face. This helps prevent unwanted vibrations and the harsh feel associated with traditional distance irons, delivering improved sound and feel. The Speed Bridge also works in conjunction with a flexible Thru-Slot Speed Pocket engineered for increased ball speed and distance.

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket stretches from heel to toe and completely disconnects the leading edge from the sole, creating in essence a free-floating face. The collaborative technologies allow the face to hinge upon the topline for enhanced flexibility, more ball speed and greater forgiveness on shots struck below centre.

Echo Damping System

The all-new Echo Damping System is a uniquely-shaped damper design that stretches across the entire face (from heel to toe), using multiple contact points for accelerated vibration damping. Vibration Damping Channels wrap around the entire structure for effortless compression, allowing the damper to efficiently compress at impact and giving the material a place to disperse without inhibiting movement in the face.

The Echo Damping System and Speed Bridge work in unison to deliver forged-like feel. In company testing, the SIM Max and Max OS consistently produced impact frequencies in line with those of forged-construction irons.

Progressive Inverted Cone Technology

TaylorMade’s proven Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) is uniquely positioned in each iron to increase the sweet spot and minimise the effects of common mis-hits – in the centre of the face on the mid-irons, moving progressively towards the toe in the long irons to generate a draw bias.
