The first leg of the 2013 Cleveland Srixon CSSB Open circuit teed-off at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club on May 12, before proceeding south to Johor for the second leg at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club on May 16.
Once again, three winners from each preliminary leg comprising the champion and first runner-up of the gross category and the stableford champion of the A Medal category will advance to the grand final come September. This year, the showdown has been scheduled to be staged at Rancho Charnvee Resort & Country Club and Vintage Golf & Country Club in Thailand.
The first leg saw two-handicapper Lam Kong Foo card 77 to edge seven-handicapper Tan Vi Kung on countback for the gross title, while Dzahaman Abdul Rahman topped the A medal standings with 39 points.
The second leg also saw a similar tussle for the gross title with the top two finishers carding identical 74s. Nor Azmi Akob (6) claimed the title on countback, while Ang Hock Hai (11) settled for runner-up honours. Meanwhile, Loi Leong Ching (14) led the A Medal standings with 42 points to win the title.
Besides sealing their berths at the grand final, all six golfers were also rewarded with prizes valued at more than RM1,800 consisting of a 4D3N Grand Final Package to Kao Yai and Bangkok, Thailand, sponsored by Thai Airways and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, plus a set of Blue Magnetic bracelet each.
