2017 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x: A New Benchmark

The new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls feature new core and aerodynamic designs along with enhancements in the cover manufacturing process to produce what Titleist hails as the “most advanced, best performing golf balls ever stamped with the Titleist script”.

Since they were unleashed on the golf world in October 2000, each generation of Pro V1 and Pro V1x has set the standard for total performance, quality and consistency through Titleist’s relentless R&D innovations and cutting edge manufacturing process.

Each and every Pro V1 and Pro V1x is manufactured in the company’s state-of-the-art golf ball plants to the highest quality specifications in the industry, ensuring the most consistent performance from ball to ball and dozen to dozen.

The testing and validation for the 2017 Pro V1 and Pro V1x began in 2015 and included more than 80,000 golfers of all skill levels, who received numerous iterations of prototypes throughout a rigorous two-year development process.

The longest Pro V1 ever, the 2017 Pro V1 has been re-engineered with a Next Generation 2.0 ZG Process Core that delivers longer distance on all shots through lower long-game spin and faster ball speed, while maintaining very soft feel and excellent short-game performance. A new spherically-tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design produces a penetrating trajectory with even more consistent flight.

The extraordinary distance of the new Pro V1x, featuring a ZG Process Dual Core, is enhanced by a new spherically-tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design that produces a high trajectory with its most consistent flight ever.

The soft Urethane Elastomer cover system used on both models is precisely formulated to deliver superb greenside control with soft feel. The cover, created by a chemical reaction that takes place during the casting process, also provides long-lasting durability.

Pro V1 vs Pro V1x: Golfers will notice differences in flight, feel and spin between the two new models. The Pro V1 flies lower with a penetrating trajectory and feels softer, while the Pro V1x flies higher, spins more on iron shots and has a slightly firmer feel.

Pro V1 Technology: Three-piece, multi-component technology with Next Generation 2.0 ZG Process Core, ionomeric casing layer, soft Urethane Elastomer cover system and spherically-tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design.

Pro V1x Technology: Four-piece, multi-component technology with ZG Process Dual Core, ionomeric casing layer, soft Urethane Elastomer cover system and spherically-tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design.

Advanced Aerodynamics: New dimple designs on both models feature improved dimple placement and more consistent surfaces. During the manufacturing process, tens of thousands of mold cavities are used to form the Urethane Elastomer cover and dimple pattern on each ball. In order to achieve ball-to-ball consistency, the cavities (called hobs) are manufactured in-house and investments in new equipment to make the master hobs have resulted in tighter tolerances.

These two advancements combine to produce more aerodynamically-consistent flight in both models.
