Augusta, March 31: Tiger Woods will miss the Masters due to his back injury, which has kept him out of action since February.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be competing in this year’s Masters. I did about everything I could to play, but my back rehabilitation didn’t allow me the time to get tournament ready,” said Woods in a statement released on Friday.
This year’s Masters marks the 20th anniversary of Woods’ record-breaking win at Augusta National in 1997, his first of four Masters titles and 14 Majors.
“I’m especially upset because it’s a special anniversary for me that’s filled with a lot of great memories. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I won my first Green Jacket,” said Woods, who last played in the Masters in 2015.
Woods added that he has no timetable for his return, saying: “I will continue my diligent effort to recover and want to get back out there as soon as possible.”
