Asia will take on Europe in a new matchplay team event, The EurAsia Cup, at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club next March 28-30 with DRB-HICOM Berhad unveiled as the Presenting Partner.
Sanctioned by the Asian Tour and The European Tour, The EurAsia Cup will be held biennially and pits 10-man teams from Asia and Europe against each other over three days of matchplay with total prizemoney of US$4 million. The first day will feature five foursomes matches, followed by five fourball matches on day two and concluding with 10 singles on the final day at Glenmarie’s Garden course.
Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) has been appointed by the Malaysian government as the local coordinator of event.
The Asian team will consist of the leading four available Asian players from the final 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit, the leading three available Asian players invited on the basis of their Official World Golf Ranking and three captain’s picks. Europe will select the leading four available players from the final Race to Dubai rankings at the conclusion of the 2013 season, the leading four available players from the Official World Golf Ranking on Monday, February 3, 2014 and two captain’s picks. The respective team captains have yet to be announced.
