Fung Wins Again!

8 September, Kuching – Sabahan Nicholas Fung shot a final round 4-under 68 for a 17-under 271 total to win the four-day RM250,000 PGM Sarawak that began on 5 September at Kelab Golf Sarawak. He finished nine shots ahead of nearest rivals R. Natchimuthu and Md Rashid Ismail.

Fung made three birdies on the front nine and two more on the back nine. The only blemish was a bogey at the par-5 15th when he topped his three-wood second which landed in the water.

“I am very happy I played quite well on all the four days, except for the second day when I missed a lot of greens. Fortunately, my recovery game was good which enabled me to get up and down or even made birdies,” said Fung, who pocketed RM42,000 for the victory.

Meanwhile the best amateur was Asri Khalid who finished on 302 (71-75-82-74) followed by Malcolm Tay with 303 (72-74-79-78) and his younger brother Jordan Tay on 312 (79-74-82-77). All three are from Miri.
