The Talisman MCBC Annual Maple Leaf Golf Tournament held on May 18 at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort saw 128 members and guests of the Malaysia Canada Business Council (MCBC) teeing off, including the new Canadian High Commissioner to Malaysia HE Judith St George, MCBC president Roger Poulin, Jim Tarlton of Talisman and Dato’ Mohd Medan Abdullah of Petronas.

Former national footballer and ex-professional golfer Wong Hung Nung walked away the winner of the men’s title with 39 nett stableford points using System 36 handicappping. Wan Kamarozaman and Kevin Tan both scored 37 points but Wan edged Kevin on  countback to claim second place. Shima Taha won the women’s title with 36 points ahead of Lela Smith and Sakunthala in second and third respectively.

The event also had a charitable element with collections done at the ‘Beat the Pro’ hole, along with donations by Abdul Malik of d’Tandoor Restaurants and MCBC. A total of RM12, 000 was collected for charity.

There were numerous lucky draw prizes including two ‘Platinum Prizes’ comprising 3D/2N stays for two with two rounds of golf at the Blue Canyon Country Club, which were won by Asyari Mohd Akhir and Hugh Donald. The top ‘Gold Prize’ of a 3D/2N stay in the Four Seasons Hotel Langkawi was won by David Ng.
