Malaysia’s Gavin Green fired a second round 67 to make the cut comfortably at the Joburg Open. He is now virtually assured of winning the Asian Tour Order of Merit title.
“It is a big relief especially coming down the stretch. It was a strong finish. I stayed patient. I had a few bad holes but made par. My tee shots were a little bit haywire,” said Green, 23.
“The field is strong so I will try and go as low as I can. I will definitely be more aggressive now. I will fire the par-fives and stick to the game plan. Hopefully I give myself some birdie looks and we’ll see how it goes,” he added.
The 2017 Asian Tour comes to a close with next week’s Indonesian Masters at Royale Jakarta.
