Inaugural Tasik Puteri charity event raises RM15,000

120 participants teed off in the inaugural Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club (TPGCC) Merdeka Charity Golf Tournament on September 9. Organised as part of the club’s corporate social responsibility programme, the event succeeded in raising RM15,000 for three charitable bodies in the vicinity of the club.

The beneficiaries of the event were the Hulu Selangor branch of PEMADAM (Drug Prevention Association of Malaysia), the Rumah Bakti Cahaya Hati children’s home in Bandar Tasik Puteri and the Pusat Jagaan Warga Tua Sri Tanjung home for the elderly in Kuang.

Zamrai Majid (6) scored 41 nett Stableford points to win the Medal A title, finishing three points ahead of Koko Thet (5), Asri Kamsah (12) and Lee Weng Fak (12). The Medal B title went to Mohd Hisham Hussin (13) with 39 points, just one clear of Mahat (14) and Bactiar Affendy (13). The grand lucky draw prize of a 50” Toshiba LED TV went to Gary Tan.

There were three hole-in-one prizes on offer – a Perdana Park apartment in Bandar Tasik Puteri worth RM316,000, a Perodua Myvi 1.5 Auto and a Yamaha golf buggy – but  no one managed to score an ace.

Sponsors of the event included Srixon, Plaza Low Yat, Federal Hotel, Grand Hyatt Hotel, Redberry Contact Centre, Carlsberg, J-Golf, Gulfrich, Jebsen & Jessen, F&N and Hexstar.

“This tournament will be the first of many more to come in the coming years and it is our hope that every charity tournament organised will be bigger and better than the last,” said Tasik Puteri’s liaison committee chairman Datuk Dr Noordin Abdul Razak. “For this vision to materialize, we have already started on upgrading works on the golf course to continuously improve course conditions and ultimately elevate Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club to an international resort course.”

Located half an hour for Kuala Lumpur, the 27-hole Tasik Puteri course is owned by the Low Yat Group and is widely regarded as one of the best golfing experiences in the Klang Valley. For more information, contact the club at Tel: 03-60344721/22 / Email: or log on to
