The 2013 edition of the Iskandar Johor Open will not go ahead at the end of the season as originally scheduled but will move to a later date in 2014.
The Johor Golf Association (JGA) along with IMG, owners and organisers of the Iskandar Johor Open, made the announcement today, noting that the switch in date is to support and celebrate the impending coronation of the Sultan of Johor. The new event date is expected to be confirmed in the next few weeks.
Since it inauguration in 2007, the Iskandar Johor Open has grown significantly and has attracted some of the world’s best golfers to Johor. Spanish star Sergio Garcia won the last event in December 2012 with a dominating performance at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club.
Grant Slack, Senior VP, IMG Golf Asia Pacific said: “We understand and appreciate that all supporters of the Iskandar Johor Open will be disappointed this great event cannot take place as scheduled in the current season but by moving it to later in 2014 it allows all of our partners to ensure the event retains its prestige and that it is a wonderful celebration to coincide with the Sultan of Johor’s coronation. We thank everyone for their continued support and hope to announce the dates and more details very soon.”
