February 20: Dustin Johnson’s win in the Genesis Open has catapulted the long-hitting American from No 3 to No 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking, replacing Australia’s Jason Day at the top spot.

Weather delays saw Johnson finishing the third round on Sunday morning, carding a seven-under-par 64 to take a five-shot lead into the last 18. He cruised to a closing even-par 71 and a five-shot victory over Thomas Pieters and Scott Brown.

Johnson is the 20th player to hold the top spot since the Official World Golf Ranking began in 1986, ending Day’s 47-week reign at the top.
