Malaysia’s Kelly Tan made a sound start in her debut at the Ricoh Women’s British Open, signing for a one-over-par 73 on a difficult day for scoring.
“It’s just so exciting to be out here playing in the British Open and here in Scotland, the ‘Home of Golf,’ although I found the links course a bit strange compared to what I’m used to,” she said. “The tight lies and the wind make it very tricky, and I got into two pot bunkers, on five and 12, but I got up and down both times.
“I missed a few opportunities, but made a few good saves, so overall, I’m satisfied with that, and hope to go out, shoot a good score and be around for the weekend,” concluded Kelly, who is in joint 80th place just below the cutline.
