Singapore, March 24: Asian golf icon Kyi Hla Han has officially launched his golf course architecture company, Kyi Hla Han Golf Design, a fully-integrated design and develop entity.

As the company principal, Han brings international design insight inspired by his 25-year career as a touring professional, playing on the Asian, European, Japanese and Australian PGA Tours. In 1999 he topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit standings.

Han also played a significant role in the formation of the Asian Tour in 2004, serving as chairman and commissioner over the past 13 years. He remains a director on the board and was recently named the seventh most powerful person in Asian sport by Reuters.

Recent Han Golf Design projects which have received acclaim include a signature design role in The Dalat at 1200 Private Estates in Vietnam and a signature co-design role in Mandalay Myotha Golf Club in Myanmar. He is currently in pre-planning with a large multi-use coastal resort in Western Myanmar.

Han’s design philosophy is that golf, whenever possible, should be a breathtaking experience. “I want the golfer to enjoy the beauty of my courses and surrounding geography,” said Han, noting that he carefully considers not only how his golf courses will play but also how they will enhance the golfer’s sense of tranquility through vistas of peaceful landscapes interwoven into his design fabric.

Han has commissioned the services of Sam Sakocius and his company Qualitas Project Control to assemble and administer his technical support team. Sakocius is an award-winning global expert in all aspects of golf development, specialising in technical aspects of golf functionality and lives full time in Southeast Asia. He has been integral in the development of more than 100 projects worldwide including Liberty National, TPC of New Orleans, Trump International Puerto Rico, and Chambers Bay.
