Live@SimeDarbyLPGA Malaysia takes viewers behind the scenes

This week’s Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia makes broadcast history with Live@SimeDarbyLPGA Malaysia, a new 90-minute programme which goes t to a global audience in addition to its regular international telecast.

SDLPGA 2015 - Michelle Wie and Cheyenne WoodsAvailable in Malaysia and around the world via Astro Supersport, Astro Golf Channel, LPGA.com, Youtube, and simedarbylpgamalaysia.com, the new 90 minute programme will air from 9.00am to 10.30pm each day, providing viewers with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the LPGA event prior to the start of the main broadcast feed at 11.00am local time.

Produced by IMG Productions, the broadcast will embrace the digital age and #WomenWithDrive philosophy, and feature a mix of glamour, high fashion, music, exquisite food, tips from the pros, interviews and plenty of fun, as Executive Producer of IMG Productions Michael O’Dwyer explained:

“Our whole broadcast philosophy is to Embrace, Engage, Educate and Entertain and we are grateful to Sime Darby, KLGCC and the LPGA Tour for giving us this fabulous opportunity to go that step further and bring more of the game and its stars to our fans both in Malaysia and around the world. This will be a first for the region and I’m sure golf fans around the world will embrace it.”

Live@SimeDarbyLPGA will be in addition to the four hour live daily broadcast, which will be distributed to over 200 million households across 150 territories worldwide. Fox Sports Asia will once again deliver pan Asian coverage with other major broadcasters, including Fox Sports Australia, Golf Channel in North America, and Malaysia’s Astro SuperSport taking the feed.

The commentary team will be led by expert golf commentator and TV anchor Peter Donegan who expressed his delight that the tournament continues to break new ground: “It was only a matter of time until this highly respected golf tournament took the next step and embraced the digital and social media age. We love coming here to produce top class golf coverage and telling incredible stories, and now we have even more opportunity to showcase the players and the entire tournament. I think audiences around the world and visitors alike are in for a real treat!”

Former touring professional and co-announcer Sandy Mackenzie will lead the on-course commentary, with England’s Kate Burton and Singapore based Kelly Latimer completing the line-up and adding to the international flavour of the telecast with plenty of treats in store for the viewers over the four day tournament.

Steven Thielke, Chairman of the Tournament Committee, said, “Since this tournament was introduced to Malaysia, we have continuously sought to break new ground with both the presentation and visitor experience. Live@SimeDarbyLPGA is another example of this, and whether watched on television, tablet or mobile, will enable thousands of young fans in Malaysia and around the world to enjoy the off-course entertainment on offer here at KLGCC.”

In another new development to this year’s tournament, the 2015 edition will see the introduction of a Live@SimeDarbyLPGA sky tower, which will see the commentary and production team positioned in the heart of the tournament concourse in a glass booth near the Chairman’s Pavilion and practice putting green. Patrons will be able to see the production crew go about their work whilst they are live on air.
