Johor Bahru, November 2: R. Nachimuthu charged up the leaderboard on the final day of the Iskandar Johor Open 2011 National Qualifier at Pulai Springs Resort, shooting a 68 to jointly top the standings with overnight leader Wilson Choo and M. Sasidaran on two-under-par 142.
The trio thus qualified for the US$2 million Iskandar Johor Open at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club this November 17-20, along with S. Murthy, S. Sivachandran, Nicholas Fung, Haziq Hamizan and Sukree Othman. Sukree defeated P. Gunasagaran and Khor Kheng Wai in a playoff for the eighth and final spot in the main event.
The fifth edition of the Iskandar Johor Open this year boasts a stellar field with multiple major winner, Padraig Harrington, defending his title against a string of big names including Colin Montgomerie, Camilo Villegas, Anthony Kim, Henrik Stenson and Thongchai Jaidee.
The Iskandar Johor Open 2011 will boast a field of 156 players consisting of 67 players each from the Asian and European Tours, eight invites, eight national qualifiers and six international qualifiers, all vying for the top purse of US$317,000.
