Singapore, March 3: Olympic gold medallist Inbee Park surged to the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the HSBC Women’s Champions, carding a second consecutive 67 at Sentosa Golf Club’s New Tanjong Course.

The Korean star leads on 10-under-par, one shot clear of compatriot Mi Jung Hur (67), first round leader Michelle Wie (69) of the United States and Thailand’s World No 2 Ariya Jutanugarn (68). Park made seven birdies but had a double bogey on the par-four 12th and looks to be in good form heading into the weekend.

“I was able to make some putts early in the round and then I had a little bit of a mistake on No. 12. I had a couple of birdies on the back nine, so I was able to clean up my mess,” said the former World No 1, who struggled with injuries last season and has dropped to 12th in the Rolex Rankings.

World No.1 Lydia Ko carded a solid four-under-par 68 and is in joint seventh place on seven-under-par.
