Typhoon Hato and tropical storm Pakhar did not keep players away from this week’s APGC Junior Championship at Hong Kong Golf Club, with a record field of 76 players from 20 countries teeing-off in the third edition of the mixed team event tomorrow.
Organised by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation, the unique event sees mixed pairs aged 17 and below competing in fourballs on the first day, foursomes in round 2 and individually (with total score counting) in the last round.
Malaysia is represented by the pairings of Noraishah Alisa Che Omar / Bryan Tan Wei Han and twins Winnie Ng / Victor Ng. China, Macau, Lebanon and Oman are taking part for the first time this year and there are also two teams from the European Golf Association.
The South Korean pair of Kim Min-kyu and Park Min-ji won the second edition at Sunrise Golf & Country Club in Taipei last year but have since moved up to the senior ranks. 2016 individual champion Jed Morgan of Australia is defending his title.
