Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club will be staging the inaugural TPGCC Merdeka Charity Golf tournament on September 9 to raise funds for a number of charitable bodies serving the local community.

The proceeds from the tournament will be channelled to the Hulu Selangor branch of PEMADAM (Drug Prevention Association of Malaysia), the Rumah Bakti Cahaya Hati children’s home in Bandar Tasik Puteri and the Pusat Jagaan Warga Tua Sri Tanjung home for the elderly in Kuang.

Golfers who are keen to do their bit for a good cause can sign up for the System 36 Nett Stableford event, which will tee-off on a shotgun start at 2pm on the Putera and Puteri nines before concluding with a barbeque buffet dinner at the clubhouse. The entry fee is RM300 for TPGCC members and RM350 for non-members, which is inclusive of green fees, buggy, caddy and goodies. Corporate flights are also available at RM1,600.

“This is the first time we are having a charity event and we hope to make it an annual affair as part of our corporate social responsibility to give back to the underprivileged in the local community. The event will also help promote solidarity among golfers of various races,” said the club’s liaison committee chairman, Datuk Dr Noordin Abdul Razak, during a press conference on August 10.

For golfers who don’t play well enough to win prizes in the A and B Medal categories, they still stand a chance to win something in the various novelty holes and lucky draws. There will be three hole-in-one prizes on offer – a Perdana Park apartment in Bandar Tasik Puteri (value RM316,000), a Perodua Myvi 1.5 Auto (value RM53,000) and a Yamaha golf buggy (value RM30,000).

The corporate partners of the event are Carlsberg, Srixon, Low Yat Plaza and MPI Generali Insurans.

Located just half an hour for Kuala Lumpur, the 27-hole Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club is owned by the Low Yat Group and is widely regarded as one of the best golfing experiences in the Klang Valley. Recent course enhancements earned the club the Most Improved Golf Course award in the 2016 Malaysian Golf Awards.
