Malaysia’s Chan Tuck Soon carded a closing one-under-par 70 to finish joint 41st in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Royal Wellington.
Tuck Soon nailed five birdies against two bogeys and one double-bogey to finish with a seven-over-par 291 total. This was the 23-year-old’s eighth start in the event, with his best finish of T27 coming in Hong Kong two years ago.
Playing in the event for the sixth time, Muhd Afif Mohd Razif closed with a 72 to finish joint 58th on 14-over-par.
Malaysian junior Rhaasrikanesh Kanavathi had earlier missed the halfway cut by just one shot in his debut appearance in the biggest amateur event in the Asia-Pacific region.
China’s Lin Yuxin won the title with an impressive 14-under-par total to earn an invitation to the 2018 Masters and a start in the Open Championship at Carnoustie next July.
Now in its ninth year, the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship is organised by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, the Masters Tournament and The R&A.
