10 Malaysians to vie for tour cards at Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage

10 Malaysian players will be in action at this week’s Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage, which starts tomorrow at Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Jaydon Pang, Paul San, T. Kiishaan, Daeng Abdul Rahman, Amir Nazrin, U-Minn Woon, Shahriffuddin Ariffin, Brandon Lau, Irfan Yusoff and Muhd Zafran Abdullah will carry the nation’s flag in the gruelling 90-hole qualifier, which will be played over two courses – Course A&B (Par 71, 6,897 yards) and Course C&D (Par 71, 7,218 yards).

A field of 244 players from 30 countries will contest the first two rounds, following which there will be a cut to the leading 140 players and ties. After 72 holes, the field will be trimmed again to the leading 70 players and ties. At the conclusion of 90 holes, the leading 35 players and ties will earn their Asian Tour cards and be ranked accordingly for the 2020 season.

Notable players include Rikuya Hoshino of Japan who at 116 on the Official World Golf Ranking is the highest-ranked player, Hennie Otto of South Africa, Gunn Charoenkul and Natipong Srithong of Thailand, Seukhyun Baek of Korea, Rikard Karlberg and Malcolm Kokocinski of Sweden, and Khalin Joshi of India. There are no less than 11 former Asian Tour winners in  the field.

All players who compete in the 2020 Qualifying School will also be eligible to play on the secondary Asian Development Tour (ADT).
