Gavin Green’s challenge in the Belgian Knockout ended in the round of 64 this morning when the Malaysian star lost to Matthias Schwab of Austria in the nine-hole knockout strokeplay format.
Schwab made birdies on Holes 4, 7 and 9 to finish the match at three-under-par, while Green traded a bogey on four with a birdie on eight to settle for even-par. The Austrian advanced to the afternoon’s round of 32, where he faces England’s Oliver Fisher.
Staged at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, the Belgian Knockout has a hybrid format that incorporates 36 holes of traditional strokeplay before the top 64 players go head-to-head over nine holes of knockout strokeplay on the weekend.
