Tiger Woods is on track to match Sam Snead’s record of 82 PGA Tour titles after a second round 64 gave him a two-stroke lead over reigning US Open champion Gary Woodland at the halfway stage of the inaugural Zozo Championship at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club.
Woods birdied his last two holes for a 36-hole total of 12-under-par, while fellow American Woodland signed in a 66.
Meanwhile, local hero Hideki Matsuyama kept himself within striking distance after posting a 67 to lie on eight-under-par, tied with another American, Keegan Bradley, who shot a superb 63.
The second round of Japan’s first-ever PGA Tour event was postponed till today (Saturday, October 26), following heavy rains which made play impossible yesterday.
The third round will begin at 6:30am on Sunday, with players in groups of three starting of tees 1 and 10. Players will remain in their third-round groupings and return to the course for the start of Round 4 and play until darkness. Play will be completed on Monday with an anticipated start of 7:30am.
