Malaysia’s Kelly Tan will head into the second half of the gruelling 144-hole LPGA Q-Series presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina in T10 position on four-under-par and on course to regain her LPGA card.
Tan, who turned 26 two days ago during the fourth round, shot 69, 71, 69 and 71 on the George and Tom Fazio-designed Pinehurst Course No. 6. She will now take on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Pinehurst Course No. 9 for the last four rounds on October 30-November 2.
A cut to the top-80 and ties will be implemented after after the sixth round. The top-45 finishers and ties at the conclusion of the eighth round receive Category 14 membership on the LPGA Tour Priority List for 2020. China’s Muni He currently tops the leaderboard on nine-under-par after rounds of 69, 70, 67 and 69.
Tan lost her LPGA card following her fourth season on the world’s premier ladies circuit in 2017. She played on the second-tier Symetra Tour from last year, winning once this season but failing to regain her LPGA card after finishing in 33rd place on the 2019 Symetra Tour Volvik Race For The Card standings (the top 10 players earned LPGA cards for 2020).
