Twin-sharing buggy usage permitted but tournaments still on hold

Golf clubs can revert to twin-sharing buggy usage with immediate effect, the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) noted in a communique sent to golf clubs today.

The development followed widespread easing of restrictions in various areas under the government’s Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), as the country continued to show good progress in the battle against Covid-19.

However, the MGA stressed that golf tournaments are still not permitted.

The circular stated: “We are happy to inform that MGA has received the approval from the Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) to our appeal to ease the restriction on buggy usage today, 1st July 2020.

“Effective immediately, golf clubs can allow twin sharing buggies for their members, guests as well as employees.

“However, please be informed that golf competitions are still not allowed pending approval from MKN.

“In the meantime, please continue to be vigilant to follow all related SOPs from relevant government agencies as well as MGA.”

Following six-plus weeks of closure, golf clubs were allowed to reopen from May 4 subject to social distancing and sanitisation protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
