Malaysian No 1 Gavin Green chalked up a second strong performance in a row on the European Tour’s UK Swing with a top 10 finish in the ISPS Handa Wales Open.
Playing Celtic Manor Resort for the second successive week, Gavin carded rounds of 73, 71, 68 and 69 for tied eighth place on three-under-par, five shots behind winner Romain Langasque of France. The long-hitting Malaysian had finished T11 in the Celtic Classic the previous week, thanks to a superb closing round of eight-under-par 63.
Last Friday, Malaysian ladies No 1 Kelly Tan had just failed to make the halfway cut in the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon in Scotland. Faced with brutal weather conditions, Kelly shot rounds of 74 and 78 to miss the weekend by just one shot in her third outing in the Major.
Gavin’s next event is the ISPS Handa UK Championship at The Belfry in England, while Kelly plays the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship at Pinnacle Country Club in Arizona.
