Malaysian golf fans will be glued to their TVs and devices this weekend as Gavin Green and Kelly Tan continued to contend in their respective tournaments on the European Tour and LPGA Tour yesterday.
Gavin is in joint 10th place on six-under-par at the halfway stage of the BMW PGA Championship, after a battling 71 in the second round at Wentworth Golf Club in England. He did well to recover from a triple bogey on the fourth hole, nailing birdies on his last two holes to lie six shots back of leaders Shane Lowry and Matthew Fitzpatrick.
Kelly meanwhile kept herself well in the hunt in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, following a gritty second round 71 at the par-70 Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Having opened with a superb 67 to jointly lead the Major, Kelly enters the weekend in T6 position on two-under-par, just two strokes adrift of leader Sei Young Kim of Korea.
Both tournaments are broadcast live on the Golf Channel (Astro Channel 822). Gavin starts his third round at noon today (Malaysian time 7pm) paired with Australia’s Scott Hend, while Kelly tees off at 9.39am (Malaysian time 9.39pm) in a three-ball with Carlota Ciganda and Anna Nordqvist.
