Increasing performance through every single layer, the new 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x models are designed for longer distance, even more greenside spin and control and softer feel – with the trademark ball-to-ball consistency and quality that golfers expect from Titleist.
The latest generation of the iconic franchise boasts new core, casing layer, cover and aerodynamic technologies including proprietary dimple designs optimised for greater distance and consistent flight.
PERFORMANCE
The new Pro V1 and Pro V1x are designed for all golfers, regardless of skill level, who prioritise performance. Both new 2021 models deliver longer distance, increased ‘Drop-and-Stop’ greenside control, softer feel and long-lasting durability – while maintaining their differences in flight, feel and spin.
The new Pro V1 offers the optimal combination of speed, spin and feel, providing the best fit for the majority of golfers. Pro V1 flies lower than Pro V1x with a penetrating trajectory and has a very soft feel.
The new Pro V1x has a fast, high flight and delivers spin when and where a golfer wants it. Pro V1x is designed for players who want a higher trajectory and increased spin relative to Pro V1, with a slightly firmer feel.
TECHNOLOGY
Advancements in Titleist’s cutting-edge multicomponent technology are precisely designed to work together for total performance and extreme consistency on every shot.
• Reformulated 2.0 ZG Process Cores – deliver increased distance in the solid core Pro V1 and dual core Pro V1x.
• Faster High-Flex Casing Layer – this highly-resilient, high-speed ionomer, initially developed for and validated by Pro V1x Left Dash, adds speed and lowers long game spin.
• New, Softer Cast Urethane Elastomer Cover – the softest cover formulation ever used on a Pro V1 or Pro V1x – increases greenside spin for more control in the short game.
• New Spherically-Tiled Tetrahedral Dimple Designs – a 388-dimple layout for Pro V1 and 348 for Pro V1x – are optimised to each model to maximise distance and flight consistency. Pro V1 maintains its penetrating trajectory while Pro V1x flies higher than the prior generation.
AERODYNAMIC BREAKTHROUGHS
The new dimple designs – the first entirely new patterns since 2011 – are the result of Titleist’s commitment to understanding and improving the flight of the golf ball. Since the original Pro V1 debuted 20 years ago, Titleist R&D has designed, manufactured and tested more than 1,900 aerodynamic patterns – including more than 60 different iterations of the 2021 Pro V1’s 388-dimple layout and more than 30 versions of the 2021 Pro V1x’s 348-dimple design.
PRECISION MANUFACTURING
The continued investment in advanced technology and quality control at Titleist Ball Plants 3 and 4 ensures that every new generation of Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the best performing and most consistent models ever. Consistency from ball to ball and dozen to dozen is critical to allowing golfers to consistently execute the same types of shots, round after round.
PLAYER VALIDATION
Introduced on the PGA Tour last November, the new models have since been teed up in competition by the likes of Justin Thomas (Pro V1x), Tony Finau (Pro V1), Adam Scott (Pro V1x), Scottie Scheffler (Pro V1), Ryan Palmer (Pro V1x), Cameron Smith (Pro V1x), Bernhard Langer (Pro V1x) and Brian Gay (Pro V1).
Gay rolled in his new Pro V1 for birdie on the first hole of sudden-death at the Bermuda Championship, earning the first victory for the new 2021 models. “The new V1 feel is incredible. It’s super soft. I love the soft feel, especially with the putter. I thought it worked very well in the wind. And the other thing I really liked was – I’ve been working on my wedge game shots, say, 50 to 100 yards – it really flights nicely,” he noted.
German legend Langer played the 2021 Pro V1x in the Masters at Augusta National last November where he finished T29, becoming the oldest player to make the cut in the prestigious Major at age 63.
Smith put the new Pro V1x into play the first week it was available at the PGA Tour’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and also teed the new ball up at Augusta National, where he became the first player in Masters history to post four rounds in the 60s.
“The biggest thing for me with the new ball is the cover and the stickiness it gives me around the greens. I feel as though I can hit a lot of different scoring shots into and around the green, which I really needed at the Masters. It was a bit hotter off the driver, which was great … the windows were great, the spin was still the same,” said Smith.
Australian star Scott put the 2021 Pro V1x into play in his first opportunity at the Vivant Houston Open, the same week he switched to a new TSi4 driver. He led the field in driving distance at 326.4 yards.
“The X ball has always been known as the longer, harder golf ball, and it’s still long but it’s picked up that soft feel around the green. It’s also got a little more spin, which is kind of in my wheelhouse. So it’s been a nice switch for me,” said Scott.
Thomas began testing the 2021 Pro V1x during Thanksgiving week at his home club in Florida, and put the ball into play at the Mayakoba Championship, shooting a tournament-low 62 in Round 3. A week later, he teamed up with his father, Mike, to win the PNC Championship.
“I feel like (the new Pro V1x) is able to kind of pick up on some of the areas that I was trying to improve in terms of trying to get a little bit more height on the ball, trying to be able to hold greens a little bit better when they get firm or with long irons, and I feel like this ball has been able to do that for me,” said Thomas.
