Golf clubs and driving ranges will be permitted to resume operations beginning February 12 despite the ongoing Movement Control Order, slated to end on February 18.
However, no tournaments will be permitted, including club events, and golf courses will have to implement single buggy usage. While F&B outlets are allowed to operate with a limit of two persons per table, changing rooms will have to be closed.
The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) noted in a statement sent out today that the resumption of golf follows the directive from the National Security Council (NSC) or Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) dated 11th February 2021. The statement was accompanied by an updated list of Mandatory Standard Operating Procedures for golf clubs.
“However, in order to ensure the safety, health and well-being of its golfers and employees, MGA’s Mandatory Standard Operating Procedures (MSOP) updated as of 11th February 2021, shall be strictly enforced. Please be further reminded that any failure and/or non-compliance of the MSOPs’ on your part may result in the imposition of hefty fines or closure of the Golf Club/Driving Ranges or both by the relevant enforcement agencies from MKN and the Ministry of Health (MOH),” noted MGA president Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor in the statement.
