Golf clubs in NRP Phase 1 states allowed to operate at 50% capacity for fully-vaccinated golfers

Golf clubs in states under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) have been allowed to resume operations beginning today, restricted strictly to fully-vaccinated golfers.

Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) president Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Setia Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor confirmed this in an advisory sent out earlier today. Golf clubs in Phase 1 states will be allowed t0 operate at 50% of their capacity, with single buggy usage mandatory except for golfers from the same household where the golf club can exercise its discretion. While F&B outlets in the clubhouse can open, changing rooms shall remain closed. Golf competitions are not allowed.

The MGA advisory noted: ” “Following the recent announcement by YAB Prime Minister on 19th August 2021, please be informed that golfing activities in STATES under NRP Phase 1 are permitted to resume for FULLY VACCINATED GOLFERS ONLY, provided that the updated MGA’s Mandatory Standard Operating Procedures (MSOP) are adhered to, effective immediately. The MSOP is attached herewith for ease of reference.

“Please be informed that the MSOP may be updated in the near future in accordance with the gazetted Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) SOP.

“Please be further reminded that any failure and/or non-compliance of the MSOP on your part may result in the imposition of hefty fines or closure of the golf club/driving ranges or both by the relevant enforcement agencies from MKN and the Ministry of Health (MOH).”
