Nicholas Fung carded a bogey-free final round of four-under 68 for a three-day total of nine-under 207 to win the PGM Tiara Melaka Championship by one stroke from overnight leader Shahriffuddin Ariffin.
The 32-year-old calmly sank a 20-footer for his fourth birdie on the final hole depriving clubhouse leader Shahriffuddin Ariffin who had finished earlier at eight-under 208. Fung collected RM21,000 for his win at the Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Resort. Earlier in July, Fung had won the PGM Pahang Championship. So far, Fung has won 18 titles overall.
After a disheartening week at the Asian Tour’s International Series Egypt where he missed the cut, this win has boosted his confidence as he heads for the Bangladesh Open next week and the season-ending Indonesian Masters. He needs a good finish to keep his Asian Tour card. Fung is currently ranked 56th and only the top-60 players get to retain their cards.
Kenneth De Silva eagled the 16th hole but bogeyed 18th hole, landing him into 3rd position at six-under-par 210.
