The 48th Peugeot Selangor Amateur Open is set to make a grand comeback at the Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) from the 28 – 30 November 2023, with 27 November set for a practice round, after a hiatus of eight years. The last time the Selangor Golf Association (SGA) organised the tournament was in 2015.
The SGA, under the leadership of President Kuldip Seine, revealed the exciting news. KGNS, a historical host of the championship, last welcomed this prestigious event back in 2006.
With its illustrious history, the Peugeot Selangor Amateur Open holds a special place in the hearts of golfers. Players from various corners of the world, not just Malaysia, will vie for the prestigious DYMM Sultan Sallehudin Abdul Aziz Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Hishamudidin Aziz Alam Shah trophy in the men’s category and the coveted DYMM Tuanku Ampuan Najihah binti Almarhum Tunku Besar Burhanuddin trophy in the ladies’ category.
Over the years, the tournament has witnessed the rise of some local champions who have gone on to make their mark in professional golf. The list includes the likes of Danny Chia, R. Nachimuthu, Galven Green, Muhd Afif Razif, Kenneth Christian De Silva, Kelly Tan, Ainil Johani, Michelle Koh, Liyana Durisic, and Winnie Ng.
SGA President, Kuldip Seine said, “We will have players not only from Malaysia or East Malaysia but also from various countries across the Asia Pacific region, such as Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Myanmar, India, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.”
Peugeot returns as the title sponsor, generously supporting the tournament. They will also sweeten the deal by offering a Peugeot 3008 as a Hole-in-One prize. The Ministry of Youth and Sports plays a pivotal role as the main sponsor of the event, with additional support from the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), the State Sports Council, the Selangor State Government, Tourism Selangor, SportExcel, and Trans International Logistiks Sdn Bhd.
Stay tuned for more updates as this iconic tournament unfolds its 48th chapter in style.
