The Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (MALGA) unveiled the top three ranked players who will represent Malaysia in the 44th Queen Sirikit Cup, scheduled from March 20th to 23rd at the Clearwater Golf Club in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Among them are Ng Jing Xuen, a gold medallist from the 2023 SEA Games, alongside Sohniya Chandra Mohan and Pang Hee Jie, all aspiring for a remarkable team finish within the top five. MALGA has provided comprehensive support, including financial aid and additional coaching leading up to the event.
Support for the team has been generously provided by sponsors like Yayasan Sime Darby, where the three players are recipients of the YSD-MALGA Golf for Girls grant, as well as Majlis Sukan Negara, Air Asia, and CARRO for team apparel. The sponsorship handover ceremony was held at the residence of President YAM Tunku Puteri Jawahir.
With high hopes for success, each player, including Jing Xuen (JX) in her third Queen Sirikit Cup appearance, aims for a positive outcome. Sohniya and Hee Jie, in their debut in the tournament, eagerly anticipate contributing to the team’s performance.
This prestigious tournament, named after Queen Sirikit of Thailand, has served as a launchpad for numerous golfers turning professional, underscoring its significance in the golfing world. Among them are Lim Ai Lian, Lim Siew Ai, Kelly Tan and Natasha Andrea Oon (Malaysia), Se Ri Pak, So Yuen Ryu (South Korea), Ai and Mika Miyazato (Japan), Lydia Ko (New Zealand) Atthaya Thitikul, Ariya and Moriya Juttanagarn (Thailand) and Karrie Webb and Hannah Green (Australia)
