NJDP elite team golf bag handover ceremony marks a milestone for Junior Golf Development

The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) hosted the official NJDP Elite Team Golf Bag Handover Ceremony at Dewan Seroja, Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam recently. The event celebrated the ongoing success of the National Junior Development Program (NJDP) and introduced new junior recruits, marking a significant step forward for the future of Malaysian golf.

The ceremony was officiated by MGA President, Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, and NJDP Chairman, Mr. Fauzi Mesran. The new recruits included juniors Maverick Chua, Mavis Chua, and Jarvis Liew —who will join the NJDP under a special sponsor’s invite.

“The National Junior Development Program is the backbone of our future in golf. We are deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of Malaysian golfing talent. It is our vision to see these juniors compete at the highest levels, both locally and internationally,” said MGA President Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor.

The highlight of the event was the handover of official golf bags to the NJDP Elite Team members. The MGA President, along with NJDP Chairman, Mr. Fauzi Mesran, presented the golf bags, which symbolised the association’s ongoing support and investment in junior golf development.

Mr. Fauzi Mesran, NJDP Chairman, sharing his thoughts on the significance of the occasion, said, “This is a proud day for the NJDP and the players. The handover of these golf bags is more than just a symbolic gesture; it is a reinforcement of our commitment to our juniors and the future of Malaysian golf. I am confident that with continued support, these young golfers will rise to the challenge and make our nation proud.”

The ceremony also featured key announcements of upcoming MGA Junior Golf Events, including:

MGA JGE Junior Open (3-5 October 2024 at Senibong Golf Club)

Malaysian International Junior Open (21-24 November 2024 at Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort)

AIJG Asian Junior Circuit Championship (26-28 November 2024 at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club)

A special Scholarship Signing Ceremony took place between NJDP player Mohamad Afham Othman and ECM Golf Academy at Epsom College in Malaysia, which blends professional golf training with academic excellence. Launched in June 2023, the Academy features cutting-edge golf facilities and training software, along with dedicated PGA Certified coaches focused on enhancing both the golfing skills and personal development of their students. This scholarship marks a significant milestone for Afham Othman as he embarks on his journey integrating rigorous academics with competitive golf.
