The future stars of golf from the region will serve notice of their talent when the fourth edition of the Singapore Junior Masters gets underway from September 30- October 2.

Making its return after a one-year absence, the Singapore Junior Masters – with CarTimes, adidas, Apexlynx and Uswing Mojing (title sponsor for the prestigious Junior World Golf Championships) as its presenting sponsors – welcomes 176 players from 21 countries to the Lion City next week.

Junior golfers aged between 7-18 will have the chance to stake their supremacy at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club, which is also the host venue for the Singapore Ladies Masters and EFG-CLPGA Q series.

Lucas De Guzman from The Philippines

All eyes will be on seven-year old boy wonder Lucas De Guzman from the Philippines. The young sensation ruled the Under-7 boys category at the Malaysian Championship in March, winning his second title abroad after his maiden win in California last year.

He also finished second overall in the U.S. Kids in San Francisco and in the Srixon World Grand Finals early this year where he shot a career-best six under but lost by a stroke to Germany’s Glory Lily Hong, who has also confirmed her entry for the Singapore Junior Masters.

The Nugooludomphanit brothers, Put and Pakpian from Thailand have also been highly rated as one of the contenders. Pakpian finished tied-ninth at the Thailand Amateur Open while Put had a tied-15th finish.

Promising 14-year-old teenager Arshvant Srivastava of India, who finished second at the recent Malaysian Championship, will also be part of the field where Singapore’s Sydnie Ng, Passion Hsu and are expected to spearhead the local challenge at the 54-hole stroke play event.

Ng emerged as the U16 champion at the EFG-CLPGA Q series last week.

Singapore’s first golf Olympian, Shannon Tan won the inaugural tournament when it was launched in 2020, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The 20-year-old successfully defended her title the following year before Hong Kong, China’s Arianna Lau clinched the title in 2022. The boys’ titles were won by Singapore’s Sean Lee and Brandon Han in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

It will be contested across five categories- Division A, U18, Division B, U16, Division C, U13, Division D, U11 and Division E, U9 over three days.
