Malaysia’s Ervin Chang has earned a spot on the 2025 Asian Tour after a solid performance at the Final Stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School in Thailand. The 26-year-old posted rounds of 67, 69, 69, 68, and 71 at Lake View Resort and Golf Club, finishing tied for 23rd on 11-under-par 344. This achievement marks his return to the Tour for a second consecutive year.
Chang’s 2024 season presented challenges as he placed 103rd on the Order of Merit, requiring him to navigate Q-School to regain playing privileges. Sharing his news on social media, Chang wrote that he was really happy with the progress he had made with his game these past few weeks.
Other Malaysian contenders were less fortunate. Amir Nazrin Jailani (73-70-72-67) and Shahriffuddin Ariffin (68-74-75-70) missed the 72-hole cut, while Paul San (74-73) and Galven Green (78-81) failed to progress past the first two rounds.
The Final Stage, consisting of five rounds, saw 35 players earn spots for the 2025 season. Japan’s Takumi Murakami led the pack, finishing on 20-under-par after a closing round of 70, narrowly defeating Korea’s Kyungnam Kang by one stroke.
The 2025 Asian Tour schedule promises an action-packed season with 22 events confirmed so far, offering over US$30 million in prize money. The season kicks off with the Philippine Open at Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club from January 23-26, followed by the International Series India, which will feature American star Bryson DeChambeau. Additional tournaments are expected to be announced, adding to the excitement surrounding the new season.
