Malaysia’s Gavin Green is set to kick off his 2025 season at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic from January 16-19 at the Emirates Golf Club. Green, the first Malaysian to play full-time on the DP World Tour, enters the event following his morale-boosting victory as captain of the triumphant Team Gavin in the inaugural Albatross Cup.
The 2025 edition of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic will feature a star-studded field, including defending champion Rory McIlroy, four-time Major winner and reigning European Number One. Joining McIlroy are Ryder Cup teammates Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, and Tommy Fleetwood, alongside other notable players like European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald and Major champions Pádraig Harrington, Patrick Reed, Adam Scott, and Jimmy Walker.
The event will also highlight emerging talents, such as Akshay Bhatia, David Ford, and Preston Summerhays, as the tournament continues its tradition of creating opportunities for young players.
Executive Tournament Director Simon Corkill emphasised the significance of this year’s field, stating: “We’re absolutely delighted that this year’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic boasts the strongest and most exciting field we’ve witnessed in many years. From Major champions and Ryder Cup stars to emerging talents, the 2025 edition promises unforgettable moments for players and fans alike.”
As the first Rolex Series event of the 2025 Race to Dubai and the oldest golf competition in the Middle East, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic remains a cornerstone of world-class golf, promising fans a spectacular showcase of talent and excitement.
