Al Zorah Golf Club celebrates record success in 2024

Al Zorah Golf Club is flying high at the forefront of golf in the Middle East following a record-breaking year that has seen the venue register increased golf revenues, host a series of important regional and global tournaments and earn widespread acclaim from the international golf community.

The last 12 months has been a period to remember for Al Zorah, with the club reaping the benefits for the outstanding course conditioning and golf experience that it offers to members and guests following a period of continued investment in its facilities and staff.

Al Zorah was a multiple winner at last year’s World Golf Awards, with the venue claiming three leading accolades including the prized honour of Middle East’s Best Golf Course, and 2025 promises to be even better with the club poised to unveil a new state-of-the-art clubhouse in the coming weeks and host a Challenge Tour event for the first time in its burgeoning history in April.

Helped by the appointments of golf course superintendent Terrance Mohammed and new head of golf Austin Cahill, Al Zorah enjoyed record growth across its golf business in 2024, with revenues up by 20 per cent compared to 2023 and the number of rounds played rising by 25 per cent.

Featuring a stunning par-72 championship course – the first Nicklaus Design project in the United Arab Emirates – and outstanding practice facilities, the club was a popular venue for events for professionals and amateurs throughout 2024.

Among its many tournament highlights, Al Zorah had the honour of staging a Clutch Pro Tour, Europe’s leading golf development tour, for the first time last March and hosting the 43rd edition of the Pan Arab Golf Championship in November.

In addition, the club hosted the prestigious Al Zorah Mixed Amateur Open, a three-day event recognised by the World Amateur Golf Ranking and the Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit, last month and Al Zorah is set to go from strength to strength in 2025.

As well as already being selected to host the inaugural Troon International Challenge in March and the Challenge Tour for the first time in April, the Clutch Pro Tour will return in October while Al Zorah is set unveil its eagerly awaited new clubhouse to an international audience at the end of this month.

Under construction since 2022, the magnificent three-storey facility will feature a pro shop, gym, changing facilities and swimming pool, as well as various dining options, when finished and is set to serve as a major focal point for golfers visiting the United Arab Emirates region.

Phil Henderson, general manager of Al Zorah Golf Club, said: “It’s been a year of great progress for us and we’re delighted at everything the club has achieved in the last 12 months.

“We have a fantastic team here that is committed to making Al Zorah one of the finest golf destinations in the world and we’re looking forward to building on the recent success in 2025, including hosting our inaugural event on the Challenge Tour.”

Just 40 minutes from Dubai, Al Zorah Golf Club is part of Al Zorah City, is a 5.4 million square metre lifestyle and real estate development on the Arabian Golf. Opened for play in 2015, the course plays through one million square metres of natural mangrove forest a natural setting and provides a distinctive and most tranquil challenge for all golfers. Extensive practice facilities complement the luxury golfing experience, including a 350-metre-long driving range and 10,000 square metre short-game area and new putting green which were completed last year.
