The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) successfully introduced its Golf in School program at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Desa, marking a key milestone under the recently launched Community Golf Program in Malaysia.
A total of 100 students from Standards 4 and 5 took part in the initiative, aimed at making golf a co-curricular activity in schools and introducing the game to young Malaysians. While the program was initially planned for a larger group, Standard 6 students were unable to join due to ongoing examinations.

The program was officially launched by Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, President of the Malaysian Golf Association, in a ceremony that drew strong support from teachers, students, and invited guests.
Four experienced instructors conducted engaging sessions to introduce the fundamentals of golf:
- Nur Batrisyia Ghani, National Team Player
- Muhammad Alir Fisthoaniq bin Eusof, Community Golf Instructor
- Cikgu Adib, Community Golf Instructor
- Shairul Erwin, National Tutor of the Community Golf Instructor (CGI) Program
The lessons were designed to be interactive and enjoyable, helping students develop early interest and basic skills in the game.

Speaking at the launch, Tan Sri Mohd Anwar said: “The Golf in School program is part of our long-term vision to make golf more accessible to all Malaysians, starting from the grassroots. By introducing golf as a co-curricular activity, we are not only teaching the game but also instilling values such as discipline, focus, and sportsmanship. We hope this program will inspire more young talents to pick up golf and grow with the sport.”
The program schedule featured introductory briefings, outdoor practice sessions, and the presentation of souvenirs to commemorate the event.
The initiative at SK Taman Desa is the first step towards expanding golf in schools nationwide, reinforcing MGA’s vision to ensure the sport truly lives up to its motto: “Everyone Can Golf.”
