Shahriffuddin Ariffin’s bid for a breakthrough Asian Tour title slipped away on Sunday at the Mandiri Indonesia Open, where Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai surged ahead with a flawless display to claim his fourth Tour victory.
The Malaysian started the final round at Pondok Indah Golf Club with a one-shot lead but struggled to find momentum, closing with a disappointing two-over-par 74. Consecutive bogeys on the last two holes dropped him into a share of fifth place at 15-under-par alongside Thailand’s Pawin Ingkhapradit.
Shahriffuddin had put himself in contention with three strong rounds earlier in the week giving himself a chance for his first Asian Tour win. But it was not to be. However he was happy with his tied fifth position on total 15-under-par 273.

Suteepat, meanwhile, stormed to victory with a brilliant eight-under 64 that included two eagles, finishing seven strokes clear of Hong Kong’s Taichi Kho. For Shahriffuddin, the turning point came at the par-five sixth hole, where Suteepat eagled to seize the lead.
Malaysia’s Ervin Chang finished tied for 48th with an eight-under-par total of 280, following rounds of 70, 71, 67 and 72. Marcus Lim was close behind in 52nd place on seven-under 281, after returning scores of 69, 71, 69 and 72.
