Hana Financial Group Championship set to unite global stars in Korea showpiece

The Hana Financial Group Championship, widely regarded as one of Asia’s premier women’s golf tournaments, will tee off from September 18–21 at Bears Best Cheongna Golf Club in Incheon.

In its seventh edition this year, the Hana Financial Group Championship has grown into a flagship event that attracts top names in women’s golf, making it a must-watch for golf fans worldwide. This year, it features an elite international field and the largest prize purse on the KLPGA Tour (KRW 1.5 billion, with KRW 270 million to the winner).

Leading the field at the Hana Financial Group Championship are  New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and Australia’s Minjee Lee, who are among the most accomplished players in the modern women’s game.

Ko is an Olympic gold medalist and the youngest inductee into the LPGA Hall of Fame. She claimed her 23rd LPGA victory earlier this year at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.

Lee, the reigning KPMG Women’s PGA Champion and two-time Rolex ANNIKA Major Award recipient, arrives in Korea looking to add another title to her impressive résumé.

They will be joined by defending champion Dasom Ma, Yewon Lee, who has won three times on the KLPGA this season, current prize money leader Seunghui Ro, and Player of the Year points leader Hyunjo Yoo – setting the stage for a high-stakes battle between global champions and Korea’s brightest stars.

Rising international names also add depth to the field, including Thailand’s Jaravee Boonchant, China’s Yuai Ji, who currently leads the China LPGA money list and Hana-sponsored young talents such as Hyosong Lee (JLPGA Rookie of the Year), Soomin Oh (two-time Korean Women’s Amateur champion), and Eun “Esther” Kwon (three-time AJGA champion).

Away from the action on the golf course, the Hana Financial Group Championship has built a reputation for providing fans with a unique experience. Billed as “Asia’s No.1 Golf Festival, Where Everyone Becomes One”, the championship combines world-class golf with unique cultural and fan experiences.

At the Gallery Plaza, the largest of its kind in Korea, spectators will enjoy food trucks, family activities, autograph sessions, and a dedicated kids-zone featuring SNAG Golf. Adding a special touch this year, Netflix star chef Mi-young Lee, known as the “Cafeteria Master” from Culinary Class Wars, will operate a food truck with exclusive dishes available only at the tournament.

In addition to world-class golf and entertainment, the Hana Financial Group Championship continues to set new standards for sustainable sports events in Asia.

Located just two minutes from Cheongna International City Station, the tournament promotes public transport access. Donation initiatives tied to player performance, including the “Every Birdie Hole” and the “Hana Star Zone,” are expected to raise up to KRW 200 million for charity.

Hana Financial Group and players will also contribute 1% of the total prize money (KRW 30 million) directly to community projects. Even players who miss the cut will receive support of KRW 500,000, underscoring the event’s commitment to nurturing talent across the region.

As women’s golf continues to flourish worldwide, the Hana Financial Group Championship reinforces Korea and Asia’s role as a driving force in the global game. By uniting champions from across tours, offering the richest prize fund on the KLPGA, and creating a vibrant festival atmosphere, the tournament stands as a showcase of how golf can inspire, entertain, and connect fans everywhere.
