Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting capped off an impressive week at the LPGA Qualifying Series’ Qualifying Stage by firing a composed 4-under 68 on the Bobcat Course at Plantation Golf & Country Club, sharing co-medallist honours with Japan’s Kokona Sakurai on total score of 14-under 274. Both players finished atop the 194-player field, securing their spots at the Final Qualifying Stage in Mobile, Alabama, this December.
After an even-par round on Friday, Ting rediscovered her rhythm early in the final round despite a bogey on her second hole. The 21-year-old former Florida State standout responded quickly, rolling in back-to-back birdies on holes four and five, followed by another pair on the 7th and 8th, to make the turn at 3-under.
“I wasn’t hitting my irons well yesterday, so I worked on a few range shots after the round,” Ting said. “I found something that clicked — I felt calm and confident again today.”
A bogey at the 11th briefly halted her momentum, but Ting recovered with birdies on 13 and 16, closing with a polished 68. The performance lifted her from tied-second overnight to the top of the leaderboard, level with Sakurai at the close of play.
Ting’s success was made even more special by having her ‘sister’ Michelle Koh on the bag throughout the week. Ting, who have dedicated the season to her late father, shared an emotional moment walking off the 18th green.
“I think the first word would be he’s really proud,” Ting said. “But he’d also remind me to keep working hard, the journey is still far ahead. Keep your head high, and keep doing what you’re doing.”
The co-medallist finish marks another milestone in Ting’s promising career as she edges closer to earning full LPGA Tour status.
In total, 50 players (top 45 and ties) secured advancement to the Final Qualifying Stage, set for December 4–9, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama.
