South Koreans dominate 121st Malaysian Amateur Open

The 121st Malaysian Amateur Open drew to a thrilling close at Permaipura Golf & Country Club, capping off one of Asia’s oldest amateur championships with standout performances in both the Men’s and Women’s divisions. The tournament once again attracted top amateur talent from across the region, with tight scorelines reflecting the high level of competition.

South Korea’s Haecheon An claimed the Men’s title with a superb total of eight-under-par 205, sealing a two-stroke victory after rounds of 70, 66 and 69. His composed play across all three days kept him ahead of Vietnam’s Nguyen Tuan Anh, who finished runner-up on six-under-par 207 following an excellent final-round 67. Austria’s Jakob Lotschak secured third place with a total of five-under-par 208.

Aiden Kei – Best Malaysian finisher

Malaysia’s Aiden Kei Ahmad Shaharuddin finished fourth overall on four-under-par 209 with rounds of 69, 70 and 70, earning him the distinction of Best Malaysian in the Men’s division.

In the Women’s division, South Korea’s Yunseo Yang held off a determined field to win the championship on one-over-par 214 with rounds of 68, 75 and 71. She edged compatriot Sumin Hong, who finished one shot back on two-over-par 215.

Malaysia’s Charlayne Chong Shin Ling secured third place with a total of six-over-par 219, a performance that also earned her the Best Malaysian honour in the Women’s division.
