Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) has appointed Malaysian professional golfer Kelly Tan as its newest Golf Ambassador, reinforcing the club’s commitment to excellence and the development of emerging talent.

Kelly joins a distinguished line-up of ambassadors, reflecting KLGCC’s continued support for elite athletes who represent the values and standards of one of Malaysia’s premier golf clubs. Beyond offering a world-class golfing experience, the club remains focused on nurturing young talent by providing access to its facilities and development pathways for aspiring golfers.

“Kelly’s journey and achievements on the international stage make her an exceptional role model for young golfers,” said Mr. Adam Calver, General Manager of KLGCC. “Weare incredibly proud to welcome her as our ambassador. Her longstanding connection with the club and her passion for representing Malaysia align perfectly with KLGCC’s commitment to developing talent and promoting excellence in the sport.”

Kelly brings an impressive resume to the role, including a career-best world ranking of 140 and three professional victories – two on the Malaysian PGM Tour in 2019 and one on the Epson Tour. She also holds the best Malaysian finish in a major championship with a tied-13th result at the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and has recorded runner-up finishes at the Dow LPGA Championship in 2022 and 2023. Across her LPGA career, she has notched four Top-10s and 19 Top-25 finishes. A two-time Olympian, she represented Malaysia at both the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Kelly’s relationship with KLGCC dates back to her teenage years when she trained at the club as part of the national team.

“I started playing here when I was part of the national team at the age of 16,” said Kelly. “One of my fondest memories was being invited to play in the 2010 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia at KLGCC when I was just 17. After that event, Yayasan Sime Darby awarded me a Star Scholarship to finish high school at IMG Golf Academy in Florida. That opportunity changed my life and set me on the path to becoming an LPGA Tour Professional golfer”.

“My aspiration is to perform consistently at the highest level of professional golf while representing Malaysia with excellence and integrity. Beyond competitive results, I hope to inspire the next generation, contribute to the growth of high-performance golf development, and give back to the community that shaped me.”

She added, “KLGCC’s encouragement empowers me to compete confidently on the global stage, knowing I carry the pride of a club that represents the very best of Malaysian golf. I am truly honoured to be associated with KLGCC and remain committed to representing the club with professionalism and excellence wherever I compete.”

KLGCC believes Kelly’s appointment will further elevate the club’s presence internationally while inspiring the next generation of Malaysian golfers.
