Central Vietnam’s leading golf clubs have pitched Da Nang as a premier short-haul destination for Malaysian golfers, unveiling integrated golf and leisure packages at a promotional event in Kuala Lumpur.
Representatives from Montgomerie Links, Laguna Golf Lăng Cô and Ba Na Hills Golf Club presented all-inclusive offerings combining golf, accommodation and destination experiences across the Da Nang-Hue corridor, widely regarded as Vietnam’s golf hub.
The event, held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, attracted invited guests from the travel trade, media and local golfing community. Organisers highlighted the venue as a key gathering point for Malaysia’s golf ecosystem and a supporter of community-focused initiatives.
Da Nang has built a reputation as a major stop on the Asia-Pacific golf tourism circuit, supported by its coastal climate, diverse natural landscape and expanding tourism infrastructure, including high-end resorts and hotels. The region now features a cluster of world-class courses located within close proximity, allowing visitors to plan multi-course itineraries in a single trip.
Industry representatives said improved connectivity, competitive pricing and a stable travel environment are driving growing interest among Malaysian golfers. Demand is also shifting toward blended golf-and-leisure holidays, with average stays extending to about four days.
Maggie Ton, Director of Sales at Laguna Lăng Cô, said accessibility and proximity to heritage attractions add to the destination’s appeal. “Da Nang possesses all the key elements to become a top choice for tourists, one of which is its international airport located right in the city centre. From Da Nang, tourists can easily travel to Hoi An and My Son – two UNESCO World Heritage sites – and moreover, just 100km north, you can reach the ancient capital of Hue – a city with a special connection to Da Nang dating back centuries.”
Alice Le, Club Manager of Montgomerie Links, pointed to the concentration and quality of courses in the region. “We clearly see the positive growth of tourism products here in both quantity and quality. In the golf sector alone, golfers have eight golf courses conveniently located nearby to choose from in just one trip. All courses are well-invested from the beginning, aligned with branded hotels and resorts; everything seems to be in one place, making this destination a signature collection of golf experiences in Vietnam like no other.”
The clubs are jointly promoted under the “Vietnam Golf Coast – The Signature Collection,” reflecting coordinated efforts to market Central Vietnam in key outbound markets such as Malaysia. Organisers cited Malaysia’s geographic proximity, direct flight connections and strong golfing base as factors behind the Kuala Lumpur showcase.
Special promotional packages were offered during the event, alongside a five-month pricing framework for travel agents aimed at boosting sales and itinerary development.
The event drew nearly 100 participants, with several travel partners expressing interest in bringing the packages to Malaysian customers. Attendees also highlighted the appeal of combining golf with relaxation and cultural experiences in Central Vietnam.
Organisers said feedback from the Malaysian market would be used to refine products and services for international visitors, with expectations that the initiative will lead to broader partnerships and help position Da Nang as a leading golf destination for Malaysian travellers.
