Sarawak is set to welcome some 200 senior golfers from the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific regions, along with fellow Malaysian senior golfers, to a premier Asia-level golf challenge through the Sarawak International Senior Amateur Golf Championship 2026 (SISAGC 2026), scheduled for 24-25 October at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) here.
Sanctioned by the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia, and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, this inaugural Asia-level championship is dedicated to the “Golden Legends of the Game” – senior amateur golfers aged 55 and above for men and 50 and above for ladies from across Asia and beyond.
CEO and Organising Chairman, Datuk Eddie Abdullah, announced that SISAGC 2026 is envisioned as a celebration of experience, sportsmanship, and healthy ageing. It aims to provide a world-class platform for veteran players to compete with dignity and to inspire younger generations to embrace golf as a lifelong sport.
At the same time, Eddie stressed that with participation expected from some 10 countries, they are reinforcing Sarawak’s tourism narrative through SISAGC 2026.
“We aim to position Sarawak as a premier sports tourism destination by showcasing Kuching’s golf courses, culture, gastronomy, nature and hospitality to an international audience of high-income participants and visitors.”
“It is hoped that these high-income individuals, along with their spouses and families, will experience Sarawak not just as a golf destination but as a cultural and eco-tourism hub through extended stays. We are offering a sports tourism event with a purpose,” he pointed out.
SISAGC 2026 is also a platform for promoting active ageing, aligning with national health agendas by encouraging active, healthy lifestyles among seniors through sport.
Eddie shared that Borneo SuperAct Events, a company he founded last year, is organising SISAGC 2026 in collaboration with the Persatuan Golf Amatur Bumiputera Sarawak (PGABS) as its strategic partner, with support from Kelab Golf Sarawak.
He called on public-spirited companies, collaborators, sports and golden-age associated firms to come forward to support by sponsoring or offering in-kind contributions to co-own Asia’s premier senior golfing platform together.
Meanwhile, local senior golfers from across the country are cordially invited to register to confirm their participation, as there are still limited slots available.
Registration fees are now set at RM500 for Malaysians and RM550 for international participants, following the expiry of the early-bird rates. The rates include course fees for 2 championship days, attractive gift packs, breakfasts and lunches, a Grand Welcome Dinner, airport transfers, a shared buggy, and the opportunity to win cash prizes and attractive hole-in-one prizes.
